Consultation

Consultation/Reflective Practice Surgeries

Group and individual sessions offer professionals, carers and parents the opportunity to discuss worries they have about a child’s emotional well-being and/or behavioural presentation. This provides an opportunity to consult with an expert about any particular issues/ presenting behaviours.

These sessions aim to be a safe and non-judgemental space. They are participatory and encourage open and honest discussion on processes, and exploration relating to responding to child/YP behaviours. Discussions relate to the development of strategies to support the child in managing those behaviours. This includes how some behaviour may impact on carers and their family.

Sessions can be delivered as a one-off but many of the agencies, local authorities etc. that we work with prefer to provide whole-day or half day consultation surgeries comprising several one hour consultation slots.

The Rainbow Practice will deliver these clinics at the venue of your choice although it is important that we have somewhere private.

We provide consultation/reflective practice to Professionals such as Social Workers, Teachers, Foster carers, ELSA’s and TA’s. A written summary will be provided of what has been discussed in the consultation session with detailed recommendations and an agreed action plan.

We can offer consultation in the following formats. Alternatively we can deliver something more bespoke to meet the needs of you and your organisation.

Option 1: Drop-In Surgeries

We come to you for a day or a half-day and staff/carers/adopters are free to drop in to discuss emotional and behavioural issues relating to their children.

Option 2: Appointment-Based Surgeries

We come to you for a day or half a day to see the staff/carers/adopters that you book in for an hour long-slot each.

Option 3: Group-Based Surgeries

We liaise regarding the issues that most often impact upon your staff/carers/adopters and offer a series of half day group consultation sessions focussed around a different problem area each session.
